The Editor is responsible for editing subtitles. S/he is also responsible to create, reformat and edit captions, spot and simulate time codes and accurately transcribe script according to specified client guidelines. Maintains consistency, readability, and accuracy. Uses expertise to enhance subtitles viewing pleasure. Complete tasks in an orderly and timely manner. Communicate with freelancers when necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Transcribe English script for subtitle and caption format
Spots/time code for production purposes
Corrects mistakes in English grammar such as but not limited to spelling, sentence structure, and context
Corrects captions/subtitles according to specified guidelines of the client
Profile quality checking of all files as assigned
Ensure timely delivery of the assigned file/s
Observe compliance to defines company policies, procedures, guidelines and drives continuous improvement
Liaising and giving feedback to freelancers/vendors
Perform other function-related task as may be assigned from time to time
Capabilities and Skills
Editing and proofreading English translation/subtitle/script files transcribed by freelancers provided by clients
Liaising and giving feedback to freelancers
Ensuring top quality for all subtitle files and /or transcribed scripts
Expectation and Output
Minimum Diploma in Linguistics/Languages or a related field of study
Candidates who do not meet the above minimum qualification MUST possess at least two (2) years of working experience in the related field
Possess extensive knowledge on English language and able to speak and write English fluently.
Required language skills: English
Ability to deal with extremely high time pressure
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Experience using computers for a variety of tasks
Competency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Outlook
Active, positive, self-motivated, and hard-working attitudes are required
Minimum capacity: 3 hours of files per day
Working days: 5 days a week (Inclusive Saturday and Sunday, Off days: Monday - Tuesday or Thursday - Friday)
