Celebrating Lunar New Year at Iyuno Korea and China

Employees prepare decorations for the Lunar New Year celebrations.

We’d like to wish everyone celebrating a happy Lunar New Year! With the Year of the Horse officially underway, we wanted to share a small snapshot of how our teams in China and Korea are celebrating this year.

Traditions Across Our Teams

Lunar New Year is marked by different traditions across the regions where we work, shaped by local culture and customs.

In China, the celebration is closely tied to family reunion. The New Year’s Eve dinner is often seen as the most important moment of the holiday, bringing generations together to welcome the year ahead. In the days leading up to the break, teams may gather for a final meal at the office, sharing traditional dishes such as dumplings, which symbolize wealth, and fish, which represent abundance. Offices are often decorated with red lanterns, couplets, and paper cuttings, and colleagues may exchange small gifts or red envelopes (Hongbao) as a gesture of goodwill before heading home to be with family.

That same focus on home, respect, and intention is reflected across Iyuno’s teams in Korea, where Lunar New Year is known as Seollal. Families traditionally return home to be together, share tteokguk to mark the start of the new year, and take part in traditions and customs centered on respecting elders and honoring ancestors. In the workplace, Iyuno teams acknowledge Seollal ahead of the break through shared activities and games, creating space for connection before colleagues begin their time off.

Iyuno celebrates the diverse cultures that make up our community, and wishes everyone a very happy Lunar New Year!
