BTS: VOcation Cancun 2023

Iyuno is proud of our world class pool of voice talent helping our company deliver the highest level of media localization services to top clients around the world. Rachel Slotky, US Casting Director for Iyuno recently traveled to Cancun, Mexico to teach, coach and recruit at VOcation 2023.

The tropical conference was centered around classes that are focused on the business behind the business. They range from fundamental principles, marketing, branding, SEO, networking and negotiation, to casting, agents, and genre specific analysis.

Rachel spoke on a panel titled "The Business of Characters" alongside prominent voice actors Dave Fennoy, Sarah Natochenny, and Mara Junot; hosted by Rachel Naylor and sponsored by the Voiceover Network. Panelists exchanged audition stories, social media practices for actors, and tips on how to organically grow a career in character voice work.

Rachel shared with the audience “It’s important for up-and-coming talent to get to know the community since dubbing is such a specialized and multi-faceted industry, and to keep a collaborative mindset. Lastly, it’s important to learn and understand the entire dubbing process, because your output will not only improve as a result, but it will increase the likelihood of receiving future work.”

Sarah, who voiced the English character of Ash Ketchum in Pokémon, paired up with Rachel to deliver an information-packed seminar called "Behind the Beep: The Business of Dubbing" giving insight into contracts; major markets in Los Angeles, New York, Texas, and Miami; increasing client demands around remote recording; and current trends in the industry such as having both options available for live commuting distance to a major market for in studio recording and to have broadcast quality remote capabilities for remote recording.

Slotky also sat down with 10 voice actors for "Small Group Coaching", connecting to talent and sharing experiences on a more personal level.
