BTS: Iyuno-SDI at Series Mania Forum in Lille, France

The 2022 Series Mania Forum in Lille, France was a big moment in the history of our return to in-person events and gatherings. More than 3,000 attendees descended on Lille Grand Palias Conference Center to engage in a wide range of topics, and as always, a lot of new show pitches and deals were being made in and around the conference.  

Iyuno-SDI's EVP of Marketing & Corporate Development, Chris Carey, was invited to join a panel discussion titled, “The Growing Role of Dubbing and Subtitling in the Creative Mix.” For many of those in the localization business, this is a welcome change to see a production development-centric conference putting this topic on the table for discussion and learning. Carey was joined on stage by panel speakers including Catherine Retat, Director, International Dubbing - Creative Services at Netflix; Alexander Piel, Drama Deputy Director at Arte France; and Holly Diener, Author, Adaptor and Founder of The Perfect World. Moderated by Laura Gragg, it was a fantastic discussion that allowed the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the production and creative process of localization, and for the panelists on the stage to share insights, as well as make some asks about considering the localization as a vital part of a productions early development, and certainly once in production and post, to engage in planning with the localization team to create a better end product and expand the potential reach and revenue of their shows by way of high quality localized versions. Each member of the panel had a unique perspective to share, and the panel discussion was interesting and engaging. 

It is a watershed time for our industry as demand for localization services has never been higher, and the desire to raise the bar of quality has never been stronger. We look forward to our sector receiving more attention in the months and years to come.
